As part of a historic effort towards developing Vision-AI solutions for India and Japan, Calligo Technologies has signed a strategic partnership with OGIS-RI, Japan. The alliance involves combining Calligo Technologies’ CIS2 Technology with OGIS-RI’s MessagePub+ platform technology to create a single oneM2M-compliant platform for Vision-AI applications.
Unified Vision IoT Architecture Based on Calligo’s CIS2 Edge-AI Systems
The partnership integrates Calligo’s CIS2 vision-based Edge-AI systems with MessagePub+, a lightweight subset of oneM2M-compliant messaging technology tailored for low-resource environments. After successful integration and testing of the new CIS2 + MessagePub+ architecture, advanced vision functionality will be enabled for process control and defect detection.
Calligo is now focused on leveraging its industry contacts to effectively promote its TUNGA2.0 silicon, an all-inclusive RISC-V-based SoC for AI and performance computing workloads. “The integrated solution is the future of Industrial IoT, in which real-time visual intelligence will be combined with standardised machine-to-machine communications,” stated Jun Funamori, General Manager, Core Technology Dept., Technology Innovation Division, OGIS-RI.
- oneM2M is the international standard for machine-to-machine data communication protocol. The Indian Government, through the Department of Telecommunications, is implementing this standard in India.
- CIS2 – Calligo Intelligent Surveillance System
The collaboration focuses on two major and strategically significant markets for the digitisation of industries. The Indian machine vision market size stood at USD 592.2 million in 2024 and is expected to grow up to USD 1,023.2 million by 2033, driven by strong demand for AI-driven automation and quality control.
Japan’s Industrial Internet of Things market was valued at USD 7.56 billion in 2025 and is forecasted to grow to USD 16.60 billion by 2034, influenced by automation, efficiency gains, and smart manufacturing technologies. Together, these factors provide a solid commercial background for scalable Vision-AI solutions based on edge intelligence and open standards.
Market Expansion Plan for India & Japan
Calligo Technologies will collaborate closely with OGIS-RI to develop an expanded implementation plan that will receive strategic approval for rollout in the Indian market, thereby promoting faster adoption through Calligo’s extensive manufacturing base.
The opportunity is fuelled by India’s fast-digitising manufacturing industry, which adds 30,000-plus automated inspection points per year; the growth of the AI-driven inspection market at 12% to 15% CAGR; the setting up of greenfield factories through India’s PLI programme; and the advent of M2M communication using Edge-AI, wherein MessagePub+ could be the messaging layer.
In a similar trend, the high-end manufacturing environment in Japan is favouring oneM2M-compliant systems for multisite environments, thereby offering a solid path for the expansion of CIS2 into sectors such as automotive, electronics, industrial machinery, and energy industries, where reliability and accuracy have a direct impact on manufacturing output. The CIS2 and MessagePub+ combination also provides direct support for the adoption of Industry 4.0 through real-time visualisation of data generated from industrial cameras, standardised IoT communication that conforms to international oneM2M standards, and multisite deployment of manufacturing units.
“We aim to enable manufacturers through scalable and AI-powered solutions. Through CIS2 and MessagePub+, we have created an ecosystem for innovation in industry. Calligo already holds multiple patents on computer vision and has collaborated with the Telecom Centre of Excellence and the Department of Telecommunications for IoT standards in India,” remarked Rajaraman Subramanian, CTO, Calligo Technologies.
