The tournament will be preceded by an Am-Am event on November 8, followed by a Pro-Am round on November 9. The series signals the beginning of an ambitious sporting initiative rooted in Trident Group’s commitment to promoting athletic excellence while strengthening India’s presence on the global golfing stage.

The Trident Group, headquartered in Ludhiana, Punjab, is a leading Indian conglomerate operating across textiles, wheat-straw-based paper, and chemicals with manufacturing hubs in Punjab and Madhya Pradesh. The partnership with PGTI reinforces the company’s ethos of fostering world-class platforms and supporting emerging talent across disciplines. The announcement was made in the presence of Rajya Sabha MP and Trident Group Chairman Emeritus Padma Shri Rajinder Gupta, together with officials from PGTI and Chandigarh Golf Club.

The tournament will host 126 participants comprising 123 professionals and three amateurs in a 72-hole stroke-play format. After the first 36 holes, the field will be cut to the top 50 players and ties, who will advance to the final two rounds.

India’s leading golf professionals headlining the roster include 2025 PGTI Ranking leader Yuvraj Sandhu alongside Arjun Prasad, Shaurya Bhattacharya, Om Prakash Chouhan, Angad Cheema, and Manu Gandas. Chandigarh’s Tricity region will also be strongly represented by Jairaj Singh Sandhu, Akshay Sharma, Ravi Kumar, Abhijit Singh Chadha, Brijesh Kumar, Raunil Kukar, Anant Singh Ahlawat, Amrit Lal, Chandarjeet Yadav, Brashwarpal Singh, Umed Kumar — PGTI NEXGEN Order of Merit champion — Vasu Sehgal and Vishav Pratap Singh Gill.

The field also features a distinguished international lineup, including Sri Lanka’s N Thangaraja and K Prabagaran. Bangladesh will be represented by Jamal Hossain, Md Siddikur Rahman, Badal Hossain, and Md Akbar Hossain. Additional names include Koichiro Sato and Derek Trofimczuk from the United States, Subash Tamang from Nepal, Federico Zucchetti from Italy, and Uganda’s Joshua Seale. Adding further excitement, 21-year-old Shubham Jaglan — former India Junior No. 1 currently playing collegiate golf in the US — will be making his PGTI debut.

Padma Shri Rajinder Gupta expressed pride in hosting the first-ever Trident Open, noting that golf’s precision, strategy, and discipline resonate deeply with Trident’s core values. He described the collaboration with PGTI under the honorary leadership of Kapil Dev as a testament to the brand’s commitment to investing in sport and national excellence.

Kapil Dev, President of PGTI, said the tournament highlights the growing stature of professional golf in India and praised the Chandigarh Golf Club’s legacy of nurturing champions. He shared his optimism that the Trident Open will become a celebrated annual fixture.

Chandigarh Golf Club, the venue for the event, is renowned for its challenging 18-hole, 7,202-yard, par-72 course. Framed by verdant mango, jamun, eucalyptus, and kikar trees, it features tight fairways, dense roughs, and one of India’s longest par-5 holes at 613 yards.

The tournament is supported by PGTI’s Tour Partners including Rolex, Amul, IndusInd Bank, Victorious Choice, Campa, Amrutanjan Electro Plus, Golf Plus Monthly, and Golf Design India, reaffirming the collective drive to elevate India’s golfing ecosystem.
