SkyFive and Akses Prima Indonesia (API) join forces to deploy a cutting-edge Air-to-Ground (A2G) solution, enhancing inflight connectivity in Southeast Asia’s largest airline market.
SkyFive, a leading Air-to-Ground (A2G) solutions provider, and Akses Prima Indonesia (API), a prominent telecommunications and technology provider, have announced a strategic partnership to launch an A2G solution in Indonesia. This collaboration aims to elevate inflight connectivity across the Indonesian airspace, one of the world’s fastest-growing yet underconnected aviation markets.
The deployment will be carried out in phases, beginning with a high-traffic domestic route before expanding to cover the entire Indonesian airspace. Utilizing the latest advancements in long-range A2G technology, the project will ensure seamless internet access even over the extensive stretches of water separating the archipelago’s islands.
API will lead the inflight connectivity service, engaging with major airlines to provide Indonesian airline passengers with a comprehensive and uninterrupted internet experience. The first aircraft is expected to come online within 2025.
Aswan Hamonangan, CEO of Akses Prima Indonesia, emphasized the transformative impact of the partnership: “At Akses Prima, we are dedicated to revolutionizing connectivity. Our collaboration with SkyFive enables us to deploy state-of-the-art technology that will significantly enhance the passenger experience and set new standards in inflight communication across the region.”
Echoing this sentiment, Thorsten Robrecht, CEO of SkyFive, stated: “We are excited to bring A2G to the fast-growing airline market in Asia-Pacific with such an experienced and focused partner. Indonesia, with its dense airspace and digitally savvy population that expects to be connected everywhere, is an ideal area for our solution from both a technical and a commercial perspective.”
