Luxury Meets Legacy at Palace Prive as Robb Report India Curates an Immersive Royal Experience

Set against the grandeur of Jai Vilas Palace, Palace Prive blends heritage, craftsmanship, and curated luxury, offering an intimate window into India’s regal past reimagined for modern connoisseurs

In an evocative celebration of heritage and high luxury, Robb Report India hosted an exclusive experiential showcase titled Palace Prive at the iconic Jai Vilas Palace. Held over April 8 and 9, 2026, in Gwalior, the invite only gathering brought together a distinguished group of tastemakers, offering them a rare and immersive glimpse into royal living, cultural legacy, and artisanal excellence.

Organised in collaboration with Priyadarshini Raje Scindia and her son Mahanaaryaman Scindia, the experience was deeply personal and thoughtfully curated. Palace Prive was not just an event, but a narrative journey into the heart of India’s royal heritage, designed to bridge the past and present through storytelling, craftsmanship, and hospitality.

The setting itself played a defining role. Built in 1874 by Maharaja Jayajirao Scindia, Jai Vilas Palace stands as one of India’s most celebrated royal residences, known for its blend of European and Maratha architectural influences. Its grand Durbar Hall, often regarded as one of the most opulent in the country, became a central stage for the experience, transforming into a living canvas of history, elegance, and cultural expression.

Guests were treated to a meticulously designed 24 hour itinerary that balanced grandeur with intimacy. From guided tours of the palace to curated cultural performances, every element was designed to evoke a sense of place and legacy. A soulful performance by poet and artist Nayab Midha added a contemporary cultural layer to the experience, blending artistic expression with the palace’s historic ambience.

At the heart of Palace Prive was an intimate dining experience drawn from the royal kitchen. Set against the majestic backdrop of the palace, the menu featured heirloom recipes passed down through generations, offering guests not just a meal but a sensory journey through the culinary traditions of the Scindia family. This emphasis on authenticity and storytelling elevated the experience beyond conventional luxury hospitality.

Reflecting on the initiative, Priyadarshini Raje Scindia described it as an opportunity to open her home and share personal memories with guests. The experience, she noted, was rooted in lived moments and family traditions, making it both deeply personal and culturally rich. This philosophy resonated throughout the event, where every detail was designed to foster connection rather than spectacle.

The experience extended beyond the palace interiors to highlight the region’s vibrant artisanal heritage. A specially curated Crafters’ Brunch brought together local artisans, including lac bangle makers, Chanderi weavers, and carpet craftsmen. Guests were invited to interact directly with these artisans, gaining insight into their techniques, traditions, and the cultural significance of their work. This engagement underscored a key theme of the event, placing craftsmanship and authenticity at the centre of luxury.

The evening also saw the presence of an eclectic guest list spanning film, design, hospitality, and entrepreneurship. Notable attendees included Dia Mirza, Aditi Rao Hydari, Siddharth, and designer Raghavendra Rathore, among others. Their presence reflected the event’s positioning as a confluence of culture, creativity, and influence.

From a brand perspective, Palace Prive represents a broader evolution in the definition of luxury. As noted by Avarna Jain, Chairperson of RPSG Lifestyle Media, the experience was designed to offer access to the exceptional while remaining rooted in heritage. Similarly, editor Aindrila Mitra emphasised that such experiences are curated as intentional narratives rather than displays of excess, focusing on depth, authenticity, and emotional engagement.

Strategic partners including The Macallan, Bentley, Vedica, Matsya, and PC Totuka further enhanced the experience, aligning with the event’s ethos of refined luxury and craftsmanship.

Ultimately, Palace Prive stood as more than an exclusive gathering. It was a reflection of a shifting luxury landscape, where meaningful experiences, cultural immersion, and human connection take precedence over material opulence. By weaving together heritage, artistry, and modern sensibilities, Robb Report India has once again demonstrated its ability to curate experiences that are not only luxurious but deeply resonant.

In doing so, the event reaffirmed a powerful idea that true luxury lies not in possession, but in experience, memory, and the stories that endure long after the moment has passed.
