TOKYO: In a triumphant leap forward for electric mobility and design, Honda’s groundbreaking micromobility vehicle, the Fastport eQuad, has clinched the prestigious Red Dot: Best of the Best 2025 award in the Design Concept category. The win celebrates not just engineering innovation but Honda’s bold vision for the future of urban transport. Two of Honda’s electric motorcycle concept models—the EV Fun Concept and the EV Urban Concept—also garnered Red Dot awards, while its concept film “New V3 Engine Concept Teaser” was honored in the Brand & Communication Design category.
These accolades reinforce Honda’s continued leadership at the intersection of design, technology, and human-centric mobility.
The Fastport eQuad is a single-rider, all-electric delivery vehicle engineered specifically for last-mile logistics. Built for bicycle lanes, it’s designed to navigate congested urban environments with agility, zero emissions, and unparalleled efficiency. What sets it apart is its pedal-by-wire system—an electronically transmitted pedaling input coupled with an electric-assist drivetrain. This synergy enables smooth, quiet, and intuitive movement for operators.
Designed with both aesthetics and functionality in mind, the Fastport eQuad includes:
Production is slated to begin in summer 2026 at a U.S.-based Honda facility, using both domestic and international components.
Honda’s two-wheeled future also gained international praise:
🔹 EV Fun Concept:
Honda’s first electric sports bike, this model delivers an entirely new riding experience. It’s sleek, silent, vibration-free—and electric. Equipped with a fixed battery and compact chassis, it blends the thrill of performance with futuristic design. The model redefines what an electric motorcycle can be and is expected to launch by March 2026.
🔹 EV Urban Concept:
A vision of refined urban travel, this minimalist design incorporates a sophisticated Human-Machine Interface (HMI) and software-driven features. With its slim profile and smooth aesthetics, the bike emphasizes Honda’s “Precision of Intrinsic Design” philosophy—offering style and smart functionality in one seamless ride.
In parallel with its electric ambitions, Honda is developing the world’s first V3 motorcycle engine with an electric compressor. This innovation delivers powerful low-rpm torque without requiring an intercooler, optimizing space and weight on motorcycles. The development journey is captured in the award-winning short film, “New V3 Engine Concept Teaser,” which features authentic footage of Honda engineers and real-time product development.
“We’re deeply honored to receive these recognitions across both concept and communication design,” said Toshinobu Minami, Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of Honda R&D Design Center. “These awards affirm our commitment to create value through insight-driven design that resonates with people’s evolving lifestyles and aspirations.”
From redefining last-mile delivery to imagining the motorcycles of tomorrow, Honda’s 2025 Red Dot wins signal a bold step into the electric age—where innovation meets design to enhance daily life.
