GlobalFoundries India Strengthens Fabless Semiconductor Innovation Through Foundry Connect at TeknIka 2025

GF deepens collaboration with IESA and SEMI India to accelerate India’s design-to-silicon journey

GlobalFoundries (GF) India successfully hosted its flagship technical conference, GF India TeknIka 2025, in Bangalore on November 6, spotlighting the company’s continued commitment to fortifying India’s semiconductor ecosystem. Central to this year’s event was the India Foundry Connect Program, a proprietary initiative accelerating fabless semiconductor startups from concept to manufacturing.

GF India TeknIka 2025

Launched in 2024, the Foundry Connect Program has gained steady traction by providing startups with access to cutting-edge Product Design Kits (PDKs), GlobalShuttle™ Multi-Project Wafer (MPW) fabrication, IP libraries, and engineering expertise. The program is aligned with India’s Design Linked Incentive (DLI) scheme, enabling qualified companies to streamline development and transition faster from design to commercialization.

“We are enabling local startups and OEMs with scalable, reliable manufacturing tailored to their needs — from PDKs, IPs, shuttle for test chips to tapeout,” said Jitendra Chaddah (JC), MD & India Country Head, GF India. “With government initiatives like the DLI, GF will help companies move from design to silicon, empowering India’s fabless semiconductor ecosystem and driving faster product realization.”

A major highlight of TeknIka 2025 was GF’s enhanced collaboration with India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) and SEMI India, premier industry bodies driving technological innovation. Through this partnership, GF aims to engage with a broader community of fabless startups, academia, and industry stakeholders, encouraging them to explore GF technologies and leverage the Foundry Connect Program.

“IESA and SEMI India have been uniting the semiconductor ecosystem — from startups and academia to global leaders — to foster collaboration and deliver real-world impact,” said Ashok Chandak, President, IESA and SEMI India. He noted that the GF Foundry Connect Program complements national initiatives, including the DLI scheme and IESA’s Start Up Mitra Initiative, to accelerate design-to-silicon transitions and strengthen India’s semiconductor innovation landscape.

GF India TeknIka 2025 served as a platform to showcase GF’s technology roadmap, strengthen collaboration with academia, customers, and policymakers, and reinforce its commitment to building a robust local semiconductor ecosystem. The event marks another step in India’s journey toward becoming a global center for semiconductor design and manufacturing.
