StarRez Expands APAC Presence with New Innovation Hub in Hyderabad

The global student housing software leader strengthens its technology roadmap, AI capabilities, and engineering footprint with a major India investment

StarRez, a global leader in student housing management software, has announced the establishment of a new Innovation Hub in Hyderabad to accelerate its product development and technology capabilities. The move marks a major milestone in the company’s APAC expansion and reinforces India’s growing role as a powerhouse for SaaS innovation.

The new hub will serve as a strategic center for AI-led product evolution, data intelligence, and platform modernization. By leveraging India’s world-class engineering talent, StarRez aims to accelerate its global technology roadmap and deliver enhanced functionality for universities, housing operators, and community environments worldwide.

With this expansion, StarRez plans to scale its India team from over 40 professionals to more than 200, reflecting a commitment to both talent development and the broader technology ecosystem. Engineers in India will work on advanced SaaS architectures, including Microsoft .NET cloud environments, as well as AI models, API stacks, continuous integration and deployment systems, and next-generation cybersecurity and privacy frameworks. This growth initiative empowers Indian talent to lead innovation at global scale and contribute to the future of student housing and community management.

According to Travis Knipe, Executive Chairman of StarRez, the new India hub represents a critical step in the company’s strategic vision. He noted that the company is focused on building high-performance teams capable of strengthening its enterprise-grade platform, accelerating product delivery, and supporting one of the world’s most widely used student housing ecosystems. As a cloud-native company, StarRez already serves over three million residents globally across its intelligent, API-driven platform. With the new India operations, Knipe affirmed, the organization will be better positioned to enhance user experiences and deliver smarter, more automated residential services.

This expansion aligns with StarRez’s ambitious global growth strategy supported by Vista Equity Partners, enabling investments in new markets, product innovation, and specialized talent pipelines. To ensure seamless integration across geographies, the India team will collaborate closely with colleagues in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia. This interaction will include shared technical projects, innovation sprints, roadmap discussions, and customer-focused initiatives. The company also plans to open pathways for leadership roles as part of its inclusive global culture.

Serving more than 1,100 institutions and 2,000 housing communities, StarRez is one of the world’s most established SaaS platforms for student housing. Its solutions support resident experience, operational efficiency, and revenue growth through a unified environment built for flexibility, scalability, and data-rich insight. The platform offers workflow automation, advanced analytics, and seamless integrations that help administrators streamline processes and enhance student engagement.

Headquartered in Australia, StarRez has offices in the United States, the UK, Canada, and now India. Its global presence blends product scale with localized customer support, positioning it as a trusted partner for institutions seeking modern, secure, and connected residential solutions.
