University strengthens its innovation ecosystem and empowers young founders

Chitkara University reaffirmed its commitment to fostering entrepreneurship as 18 student-led startups from its Entrepreneurship 101 Program showcased their ventures at the Microsoft Office in Gurugram. The event marks a significant step in the university’s mission to support young innovators and translate promising ideas into scalable real-world solutions.

Before the delegation set out, student founders were encouraged by Dr. Madhu Chitkara, Pro Chancellor, Chitkara University, whose meeting with the cohort infused confidence and enthusiasm. Dr. Chitkara emphasised that entrepreneurship at Chitkara goes beyond building businesses—it is about creating meaningful impact. She highlighted the institution’s focus on cultivating fearless innovation, perseverance, and responsibility among its students.

At Microsoft, participants presented their startups to an esteemed audience of investors, mentors, and Microsoft leadership. The ventures reflected a strong focus on innovation aligned with societal needs, spanning healthtech, edtech, sustainability, and artificial intelligence.

Three teams—InTheBox, Ecosteelix, and Navgati—were recognised as the top performers and awarded cash prizes for their breakthrough ideas. Several other student teams received special acknowledgements and Microsoft merchandise. Notably, two startups garnered heightened interest from investors, opening potential avenues for mentorship and collaboration.

The initiative was led by the Centre for Entrepreneurship Education and Development (CEED), which supports students through hands-on mentoring, exposure to industry networks, and structured guidance. The event gave students the opportunity to gain practical insights, refine their pitches, and engage directly with experienced business leaders.

This engagement echoes Chitkara University’s ethos—where academic learning is seamlessly combined with industry experience, and ideas are nurtured into impactful ventures. Through such platforms, the university continues to empower students to dream big, build confidently, and contribute meaningfully to the evolving innovation landscape.
