Top Indian Commercial Vehicle OEM Selects Aptiv’s Gen 6 ADAS Platform to Enhance Safety and Compliance

Schaffhausen, Switzerland; Bengaluru, Karnataka, India: Aptiv PLC (NYSE: APTV), a global industrial technology company, today announced that a leading Indian commercial vehicle OEM has selected its Gen 6 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) to equip its upcoming trucks and buses. This scalable, turn-key solution is tailored for India’s traffic, road conditions, and regulatory requirements, combining advanced sensors, AI-driven perception, and modular software to deliver safe navigation and cost-effective compliance.

This marks Aptiv’s first collaboration with an Indian commercial vehicle OEM on ADAS, ahead of the 2027 regulations that will mandate safety features such as automatic emergency braking, lane departure warnings, blind spot monitoring, and pedestrian and obstacle detection. “We are ready to play a leading role in helping OEMs in India meet demanding real-world conditions by introducing advanced, cost-effective safety solutions tested and tailored to local needs,” said Javed Khan, Executive Vice President and President, Intelligent Systems, Aptiv. “By combining globally proven technologies—already deployed in millions of vehicles across Europe, North America, and Asia Pacific—with intelligent adaptations for the Indian commercial vehicle segment, we enable OEMs to rapidly deliver advanced safety technology for one of the world’s fastest-growing markets.”

Scalable Safety for Diverse Commercial Vehicle Fleets The Gen 6 ADAS platform is designed to scale across the OEM’s commercial vehicle lineup, covering 14 models and more than 30 variants. It integrates Aptiv’s Gen 8 radar and Gen 7 smart camera, featuring STRADVISION’s AI-based vision technology, specifically optimized for Indian conditions—including detection of three-wheelers, large animals, pedestrians, road workers, and cyclists.

The platform leverages Aptiv’s modular ADAS software, already in production on over 40 million vehicles globally, with over-the-air updates enabled by Aptiv’s LINC™ Software Platform and Wind River’s VxWorks® real-time operating system (RTOS). This integration reduces system complexity compared to conventional configurations while ensuring industry-leading perception and performance. “India’s mobility ecosystem is at a pivotal point as regulatory and consumer expectations evolve rapidly. This partnership demonstrates Aptiv’s commitment to supporting OEMs and industry partners to achieve optimized performance, timely regulatory compliance, and a safer mobility landscape,” said Arun Devaraj, Vice President and Managing Director, Intelligent Systems, Aptiv Asia Pacific (Non-China).

Commitment to India’s Growing Automotive Market Aptiv’s engagement in India is supported by significant investments in local capabilities, including the opening of a technical center in Chennai in 2025 and the expansion of its advanced manufacturing facility in 2024. Aptiv India employs 2,500 engineers and 13,000 employees across 7 manufacturing sites, 4 technical centers, and 1 tooling center, enabling production-ready, software-led solutions for OEMs and supporting the adoption of advanced safety systems across India’s commercial vehicle fleet. The Gen 6 ADAS platform addresses the unique challenges of commercial vehicles, which operate with larger blind spots, longer operating hours, and exposure to harsh road and environmental conditions.

Its scalable design ensures that OEMs can deliver advanced safety features across a wide range of vehicle types and powertrains, while adhering to stringent regulatory and validation standards. With India’s commercial vehicle segment poised for growth, the collaboration underscores Aptiv’s long-term commitment to introducing intelligent, modular, and locally adapted safety solutions. The Gen 6 ADAS platform not only enhances road safety but also provides a cost-effective route to regulatory compliance, giving OEMs a competitive advantage in one of the world’s most dynamic markets.
