Rapido engages 4 lakh captains in the government’s Rahveer Road Safety Drive campaign and creates a Guinness World Record

Rapido has been working with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) to raise awareness among the citizens of India through its initiative, the Rahveer Scheme. The initiative is focused on providing timely assistance to people involved in road accidents during the Golden Hour.

The partnership was unveiled in the presence of Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, senior officials from the ministry, and Aravind Sanka, founder of Rapido.

As part of the event, over 4,00,000 Rapido captains and customers took the Rahveer pledge using the Rapido platform, creating a Guinness World Record, according to Rapido.

It should be noted that the number of participants reflected the size of Rapido’s captain network and the extent to which road safety awareness campaigns can reach people through mobility platforms.

The Rahveer Scheme focuses on encouraging individuals to assist accident victims without hesitation, recognizing that quick action taken within the first hour after an accident can make a significant difference to survival chances. The programme is among several initiatives by the government aimed at improving road safety in India.

“Road safety is a collective responsibility, and the participation of citizens plays a vital role in reducing road deaths. The Rahveer Scheme is expected to inspire people to lend a helping hand in rescuing the injured during the Golden Hour,” Gadkari said.

He further stated that he appreciated Rapido for utilizing its extensive captain network and advanced technology platform to support the national mission.

Rapido said it will use its technology platform and network across more than 400 cities to generate awareness about the campaign through various activities, including digital engagement, app-based education, and social media campaigns. The company aims to spread road safety messages through multiple customer and captain touchpoints.

The urban mobility company stated that its captains, who interact with millions of passengers daily, can play an important role in spreading awareness regarding emergencies as well as responsible road behaviour among citizens.

“Every day, millions of Indians interact with our Rapido Captains. It is an incredible opportunity for us not only to help people travel but also to create awareness on matters that concern the nation,” the company said.

“By collaborating with MoRTH, we take great pride in supporting the Rahveer Scheme and promoting active citizen participation in making roads safer. The response from our captain fraternity, along with the creation of a Guinness World Record, reflects the collective effort towards safer roads and responsible behaviour during emergencies,” the statement added.

The awareness campaign will include educational material, outreach programmes for captains, and visibility initiatives across target markets. According to Rapido, the company will leverage both digital and traditional channels to increase awareness about the programme.

Bengaluru-based Rapido began operations in 2015 and has expanded its services across more than 400 cities in India. The company offers multiple modes of transportation, including bike taxis, auto-rickshaws, e-rickshaws, cabs, and parcel delivery services. Rapido claims that its platform supports more than nine million livelihoods.
