Nippon Paint India Strengthens Its Green Building Leadership with New ‘Beyond Paint’ Innovations at IGBC Mumbai 2025

A bold push toward climate-positive architecture through sustainable surface engineering technologies

Nippon Paint India has reaffirmed its longstanding leadership in green construction with the launch of its latest Sustainable Surface Engineering Solutions at IGBC Mumbai 2025. As a founding member of the Indian Green Building Council, the company continues to advance environmentally responsible innovation that supports India’s climate goals and accelerates the shift toward future-ready, high-performance buildings.

The new portfolio, unveiled at the event by Mark Titus, President – Decorative Business, Nippon Paint India, together with Shekar Reddy C., National Vice Chairman of CII IGBC, represents a decisive expansion in the brand’s sustainability vision. The announcement signals a move Beyond Paint, introducing technologies that are engineered not just for aesthetics but for measurable environmental and operational impact across India’s fast-growing urban landscape.

At the heart of the launch is a focused commitment to enabling climate-positive construction. Traditional paints and coatings have long played a role in building durability and aesthetics, but modern sustainability demands more. Nippon Paint’s new solutions address this need through products that lower energy consumption, enhance occupant comfort, extend surface life cycles, and support compliance with global and national green rating systems including IGBC, LEED and GRIHA.

Three core offerings showcased at IGBC Mumbai highlight the breadth and intent of the new portfolio. Cool Tec Solution, a heat-reflective coating system, helps reduce surface and indoor temperatures, providing tangible benefits in cities struggling with rising heat loads and growing electricity demand. By reflecting solar radiation and slowing heat absorption, it has the potential to significantly reduce air-conditioning loads in residential and commercial buildings.

The second innovation, Jiki Art, blends design and sustainability by offering artistic finishes that are both visually striking and durable. These finishes extend the life of surfaces while delivering a creative palette for architects and interior designers seeking environmentally conscious and aesthetically rich solutions.

N-Shield Protective Films, the third major offering, extend the company’s reach into architectural films engineered for long-term performance. These films help protect surfaces from wear, abrasion, and environmental exposure, making refurbishments easier and more sustainable. By delaying the need for repainting or re-coating, N-Shield supports a circular approach to building maintenance.

Speaking about the launch, Mark Titus emphasised the company’s strong sustainability ethos. He noted that innovation at Nippon Paint has always been guided by environmental responsibility and that the new portfolio illustrates how surface engineering can contribute meaningfully to efficiency, comfort and longevity while reducing ecological impact. He added that IGBC Mumbai provides an ideal platform to reinforce the company’s ongoing commitment to creating greener, cooler and smarter buildings across India.

The Sustainable Surface Engineering Solutions also reflect Nippon Paint India’s strong innovation leadership within the global NIPSEA Group. As Asia’s leading and the world’s fourth largest paint and coatings manufacturer, the group has consistently invested in advanced technologies that align with international sustainability standards. In India, the company’s portfolio spans decorative coatings, waterproofing systems, construction chemicals and protective technologies, all backed by recognitions such as GreenCo and GreenPro certifications.

Nippon Paint’s presence at IGBC Mumbai 2025 underscores a broader industry shift toward solutions that contribute to long-term resilience. With climate challenges intensifying and the built environment accounting for a significant share of energy use and emissions, the role of smart surface technologies is becoming increasingly central. By introducing solutions that enhance thermal regulation, surface durability and environmental performance, the company is positioning itself at the forefront of green building innovation.

With its new Beyond Paint portfolio, Nippon Paint India signals not only technological advancement but also a deeper mission to shape healthier, more efficient and future-ready cities.
