NIAT Empowers Indian Universities with NEP-Aligned, Industry-Ready B.Tech Programs

Through deep tech-industry integration, NIAT enables universities to deliver degrees that come with real-world employability

Hyderabad, India – As India accelerates its education reforms under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the NxtWave Institute of Advanced Technologies (NIAT) is emerging as a driving force behind meaningful change in engineering education. With a mission to make university education future-proof and career-ready, NIAT is partnering with UGC-approved universities across the country to create a model where academic degrees are paired with industry-aligned skill development, cutting-edge infrastructure, and measurable outcomes.

“At NIAT, we’re strengthening universities,” said Rahul Attuluri, Co-founder & CEO of NxtWave & NIAT. “Our role is to bring in everything the industry wants—hands-on skill training, practitioner-led faculty enablement, internships, and placements—while the university continues to own and deliver the core academic program.”

NIAT’s collaboration starts with data-backed insights gathered from 3,000+ hiring partners, 10,000+ tech professionals, and its in-house research. These insights are compiled into reports and shared with partner universities to help shape modern, dynamic curricula that comply with UGC and AICTE regulations while preparing students for in-demand roles in AI, ML, cybersecurity, and beyond.

Faculty development is a key focus. Through certification programs, sandboxed projects, and Professors of Practice, universities gain access to real-world expertise that elevates teaching quality. “To become a globally competent professional, students need not only a degree but also the right skills and aptitude. This integrated program with NIAT delivers both,” said Dr. R.K. Jain, Vice Chancellor, Ajeenkya DY Patil University.

An AI-enabled learning platform powers experiential learning, offering project-based assignments, live assessments, and instant feedback. NIAT also provides universities with a research-backed classroom design blueprint, including AV systems, collaborative layouts, and ergonomic infrastructure—benchmarked against the world’s top tech institutes and tailored to Indian needs.

Corporate partnerships form the final pillar of the ecosystem. NIAT facilitates structured internships, mock interviews, and career assessments through real-time dashboards. This model ensures every student receives both academic knowledge and professional grooming. “Students today need more than just a degree—they need skills,” said Dr. Ch.V. Purushottam Reddy, Chancellor, Chaitanya Deemed University.

Graduates receive two certifications: a UGC-approved B.Tech degree from the university and an Industry Ready Certificate (IRC) from NIAT—reflecting their performance in hands-on projects and skill tracks. “From 2025-26, students at our campus will benefit from a holistic program—receiving a B.Tech degree from Aurora University along with industry certifications from NIAT,” added Dr. Srilatha Chepure, Vice Chancellor, Aurora Deemed University. The fee model remains transparent and compliant—students pay separately for university tuition and NIAT’s optional upskilling program. “This is what the government wanted education to be,” concluded Rahul Attuluri. “Together with universities and aligned with UGC/AICTE, we’re making that vision a classroom reality.”
