Medilabs has expanded its healthcare offerings with the launch of a state-of-the-art Fetal Medicine Unit and Wellness Centre in Velachery, Chennai. The new 4,000 square foot facility was inaugurated by Thiru Ma. Subramanian, Honourable Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu, marking a significant milestone in the organisation’s mission to provide advanced maternal, fetal, and preventive healthcare services.

Medilabs, well known for its diagnostic expertise across North Chennai, now enters the specialised field of fetal medicine, bringing together advanced imaging, precise testing capabilities, and comprehensive wellness solutions. The inauguration was attended by Mr. Nitish Giria, Director of Girias Home Appliances, along with Medilabs Directors Dr. Prakash and Mr. Dillibabu.

Comprehensive Fetal Medicine Capabilities

The Fetal Medicine Unit has been equipped with sophisticated ultrasound systems designed for detailed fetal imaging and early detection of congenital abnormalities. It also incorporates AutoDELFIA platforms for high-accuracy blood testing in prenatal care. The facility features the Victor 2D system that supports early screening with enhanced precision, allowing expectant parents and clinicians access to reliable and timely insights during pregnancy.

The centre will offer routine blood tests, fetal scans, newborn screening, and specialised imaging services. These capabilities strengthen Medilabs’ commitment to supporting maternal health with world-class technology and specialised expertise.

Preventive Care Through the Wellness Centre

The new Wellness Centre expands Medilabs’ reach into holistic preventive care. It will provide full-scale health checkups, advanced genetic testing for cancer and chronic disease risk, and comprehensive gene mapping. These personalised insights offer individuals and corporate employees a proactive approach to health management, allowing early identification of potential risks.

Commitment to Accessible and High-Quality Diagnostics

Speaking about the launch, Dr. Prakash and Mr. Dillibabu reiterated Medilabs’ vision of “Caring for Life at Every Stage.” They emphasised the organisation’s commitment to making high-end diagnostics accessible, especially in areas requiring precision and specialised knowledge such as gene mapping, genetic testing, and fetal medicine. The new centres combine advanced diagnostic technology with expert guidance, genetic counseling, and structured wellness support.

Medilabs currently manages laboratory operations across nearly thirty hospitals, ensuring accuracy and reliability in clinical diagnostics. The organisation also operates thirty-five centres across North Tamil Nadu and is preparing for rapid expansion to one hundred centres across the state within the next five years.
