DS Group to Launch Marriott International’s W Hotels Brand in Delhi NCR with ₹400 Crore Luxury Investment

New Delhi: India’s luxury hospitality sector is entering another phase of expansion as the Dharampal Satyapal Group (DS Group) announced plans to introduce Marriott International’s W Hotels brand to Delhi NCR through a new 200-room luxury hotel. Scheduled to open in the second half of 2027, the project represents an estimated ₹400 crore investment and reinforces growing confidence in India’s premium travel and hospitality market.

Strategically located near Indira Gandhi International Airport and the rapidly developing Aerocity district, the hotel is expected to cater to both business and leisure travellers while bringing one of Marriott’s most globally recognized lifestyle luxury brands to the National Capital Region. The development will mark the first W Hotels property in Delhi NCR and only the second W-branded hotel in India, following the successful launch of W Goa.

The announcement comes at a time when India’s hospitality industry is witnessing robust demand driven by rising domestic tourism, international arrivals, business travel, weddings, conferences, and premium lifestyle experiences. Despite this growth, industry experts continue to point out that India’s hotel inventory remains significantly below global averages, creating substantial opportunities for investment in high-end hospitality infrastructure.

According to DS Group, the new hotel has been conceived as much more than a luxury accommodation project. It aims to deliver a contemporary lifestyle destination where architecture, design, music, gastronomy, wellness, and entertainment come together to create immersive guest experiences.

This evolution reflects a broader transformation taking place across India’s luxury hospitality sector, where travellers increasingly prioritize experiential stays over conventional hotel offerings. Developers and global hotel brands are responding by investing in properties that blend local culture with internationally recognized luxury standards. Similar trends continue to shape hospitality investments across the country. (Internal link: https://www.wemindia.com/search/label/Hospitality)

Speaking about the project, Rajiv Kumar, Vice Chairman of DS Group, said the company sees significant long-term potential in India’s premium hospitality market. He noted that while travel demand has accelerated sharply over the past few years, the country’s hotel penetration remains considerably lower than international benchmarks.

India currently has approximately 0.27 hotel rooms per 1,000 people, compared to the global average of roughly 2.2 rooms per 1,000 people. This demand-supply imbalance continues to create opportunities for established hospitality players, particularly in metropolitan business hubs where premium accommodation remains in high demand.

Kumar added that Delhi occupies a unique position as India’s diplomatic, corporate, and international travel gateway, making it one of the country’s most strategic locations for global luxury hospitality brands. The introduction of W Hotels, he said, aligns with DS Group’s long-term vision of creating world-class hospitality experiences while strengthening its presence in high-growth urban markets.

The upcoming hotel will embody the distinctive identity that has made W Hotels one of Marriott International’s flagship luxury lifestyle brands. Known globally for its bold architecture, contemporary interiors, vibrant nightlife, innovative dining concepts, and dynamic social programming, W Hotels has established a presence in leading destinations including New York, London, Dubai, Singapore, Barcelona, and Sydney.

Unlike traditional luxury hotels that emphasize formality, W Hotels has built its reputation around design-led spaces, immersive cultural experiences, music-driven environments, and personalized guest engagement aimed at modern luxury travellers.

Nathan Andrews, Business Head – Hospitality at DS Group, described the project as an important milestone in the company’s expansion strategy. He said DS Group intends to grow its hospitality portfolio to 10–12 hotels by FY2029, with a strong focus on luxury and upper mid-scale developments across Tier I and emerging Tier II cities.

He also highlighted Aerocity’s growing importance as one of India’s highest-performing hospitality corridors, benefiting from excellent airport connectivity, increasing commercial activity, international business travel, and strong RevPAR (Revenue Per Available Room) growth.

For Marriott International, the partnership further strengthens its rapidly expanding presence in India, one of the company’s fastest-growing hospitality markets globally.

Kiran Andicot, Senior Vice President – South Asia at Marriott International, said introducing the W Hotels brand to Delhi NCR represents an important milestone in the company’s strategy of expanding its luxury portfolio while collaborating with experienced Indian partners. He noted that DS Group’s longstanding reputation for quality and its customer-centric approach make it a strong partner for delivering premium hospitality experiences in one of India’s most competitive markets.

The project also reflects DS Group’s broader diversification strategy. Founded in 1929, the company has evolved into one of India’s leading multi-business corporations with interests spanning FMCG, food and beverages, confectionery, hospitality, luxury retail, agriculture, and several other sectors. Its portfolio includes well-known brands such as Catch, Pulse, Pass Pass, Rajnigandha, L’Opéra, Le Marche, Namah, and numerous others.

In hospitality, DS Group already operates several prominent properties, including Namah Nainital, Namah Jim Corbett, Radisson Blu Guwahati, InterContinental Jaipur, Renaissance Bengaluru, and Holiday Inn Express Kolkata. The addition of W Hotels further strengthens its ambition to become a major player in India’s premium hospitality segment.

Beyond expansion, the group has also placed considerable emphasis on sustainability and responsible business practices. Its corporate headquarters holds LEED Platinum and LEED Zero Carbon certifications, while the company has implemented a Double Materiality Assessment framework aligned with global ESG priorities. DS Group also reports a water positivity index of 1.8 across multiple business locations, reflecting its commitment to environmental stewardship alongside commercial growth.

As India’s tourism and hospitality ecosystem continues to mature, the arrival of another globally recognized luxury hotel brand in Delhi NCR underscores the sector’s strong long-term fundamentals. With premium travel demand expected to remain resilient, investments such as the W Hotels project are likely to play an increasingly important role in shaping the future of India’s luxury hospitality landscape.
